07/05/16 15:00 Bewdley Town 3-0 Bilston Town Community
The end of a frustrating, disappointing season concluded with a 0-3 defeat at Bewdley, where we started the game with a perfectly respected minutes silence for friend and supporter, Kevin Whale, who died unexpectedly last week.
The result, to a great extent, was irrelevant as once again the twelve lads in orange gave a spirited display, where we could easily have been 2-0 up before conceding the first goal.
Huge respect to every lad in a Bilston shirt, it’s been a massive baptism of fire for all the youth team lads, who have sacrificed their own season to ensure the first team fulfilled their fixtures – unlike some of their former senior colleagues!
It’s been tough on them but they will reap the benefits in the long term and have earned the respect of everyone connected to the Club – Steelmen, each and every one of them.
Massive thank you to Scott as well, and to Mark Barnett for stepping up as physio these last few games, it really has been a case of everyone pulling together to get us across the line but we end the campaign, a bit battered, a bit bruised but alive and kicking and still a Premier Division club.
A final thank you to the Orange Army who, once again, outnumbered the home team support – respect to you all.
An end of season evening has been arranged in the Steelman’s Bar on Saturday May 21st, everyone welcome.
