Bilston Town 5-0 Wellington

14/01/17 15:00 Bilston Town Community 5-0 Wellington

Urged on by nigh on 100 vociferous Villa fans, who we hosted prior to them travelling to Molineux, the lads responded to that support by the most complete display we’ve seen all season.

This type of performance has been seen in patches all season but today we saw a 95 minute display of nigh on perfection, against a good team sitting 4th in the league and scoring goals for fun.

Todd and Luke, reunited at the back, were immovable objects, Roland was unplayable all afternoon, ably assisted by Jayden and Matty, with Ross again pulling the strings.

To the delight of the on-loan support, Matty finished off some great work from Roland to open the scoring after 10 minutes, which Roland doubled before half time with some magic of his own.

Matty sniffed out any hope of a comeback, minutes after the break, with his second and our third and just after the hour, Roland made it 4-0.

But Jake Pain’s goal, minutes before the end, was sublime.

The lad broke from right back, carrying it 50 yards before slipping it infield to Roland, whose deft flick cut out two defenders for Jake, who’d continued his run, to collect and slide beneath the advancing keeper, rounding off a tremendous afternoon both on and off the pitch.

If Carlsberg did football clubs………!

Great support again today, rewarded with a great performance and result.

Well done to Scott and every player involved.

Wellington 1-0 Bilston Town

19/03/2016 – WMRL – Wellington 1 Bilston Town 0

The long trip up to cider country brought little reward – or justice – for The Steelmen, as, in spite of a fully committed display from the lads, we went down to a solitary first half strike.

Despite having much of the game the frame of the Wellington goal twice came to the home sides rescue in the first half as Bilston sought the elusive equaliser.

The second half was much of the same with Wellington hanging on as the game progressed. Piggo was denied two penalties in one move late in the game, with the referee first ignoring a foul on Tom, then failing to spot the handball that followed!

A late siege on the Wellington goal failed to produce the goal our play deserved, the post again denying a stoppage time shot.

A harsh result with no reward for the efforts expended but great support once again from the Orange Army, thank you to all that travelled.

We return to Hereford again next Saturday, for a date with Pegasus Juniors, so we dust ourselves down and go again, in search of those elusive points and our 7,500th league goal – one more goal required to create history.

Bilston Town 0-0 Wellington

13/02/2014 – WMRL – Bilston Town 0 Wellington 0

A much changed team, due to injuries and absence, put in a great, gutsy team effort with numerous outstanding individual performances where three points would have been a fairer reward for the team work and endeavour expended.

Wellington hit the bar on the half hour mark but, apart from that, the Wellington keeper was much the busier making several good saves to keep the Steelmen at bay.

New signing Simeon Jackson, playing up with Naveed with Piggo in support, caused all sorts of problems with all three players unlucky not to get the goal our play deserved.

As the game progressed so Bilston increased the pressure and despite McPike netting, after the keeper parried a Jackson shot, he was adjudged offside, much to everyone’s frustration.

But a clean sheet, a point against a decent Wellington side and a good hard working display made it an entertaining 0-0 game to watch.

We go to Smethwick next week and, with similar effort, we can look forward to three points.

Well done gentlemen, great commitment, great team effort, great to watch.
